This commission was inspired by an earlier work Poppy Patch at the Farm. The flowers are all things that bloom in my garden in June. The collector and I both grew up in rural southeast Michigan and have a similar fondness of pastoral midwest farms and gardens.
I liked working this subject in the large horizontal format(24" x 48") so well that it inspired a second piece:
Called Purple Barn, also 24" x 48" which I will be showing this weekend at the
Levis Commons Fine Art Fair in Perrysburg, OH just southwest of Toledo.
It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend; so stop on by. My booth is #97 located right in front of Arhaus furniture.
Both pieces were painted with a palette knife and have wonderful decadent amounts of oil paint creating lots of surface interest and richness. See the close up below:
