Glamazon Series
6' x 2' each Panel. These beauties remind me of the 1980's super-models...tall, strong and gorgeous a.k.a. "Glamazons". I will post a better photo of them later. This was taken at the Levis Commons Show this past weekend. The "girls" attracted a lot of attention over the weekend, but no one was brave enough to take them home :)
5 Friends on Red
2' x 4' Oil on PanelThis is my second finished piece on the panels that my dad made for me. This one is especially cool in that I used a small drywall knife to apply and finish the gesso on the masonite. The knife left marks and undulations; adding a lot of interest to the panel surface. Again, this one was fun to paint. Really liking these panels!
Apple Solo
2' x 4' Oil on PanelThis is my first finished large-scale piece on Masonite. The panels are custom-made by my favorite carpenter... my Dad :) They are super sturdy with a 2" cradle. I primed them with two coats of Gesso which will keep the oil paint from eating the panel over time. Panels are a very cool surface to paint on; very seductive. Because the support doesn't give with the pressure of my brush, I liken it to driving a sports car. I can't say that I finished the painting any faster; but definitely enjoyed the ride!
A little momento from the Ann Arbor Art Fairs; one of my paintings was chosen to represent the South University Fair on the cover of the "Official Art Fair Guide" which is the guide to all four fairs. Pretty nice PR for me :) big smile!
