Blue Orchard II

This piece hangs in the home of a special family in Clarkston, Michigan. The couple has a 3 year old daughter named Daphne. The three trees represent the family. I could have removed little Daphne's things that are strewn about, but I chose to keep them in the picture. The tiny slippers are Cinderella slippers...I happily remember those times with my girls.

This piece is painted on a 4' square wood panel. The oil paint is applied with a palette knife. The Blue Orchard painting that preceded this was painted with a brush. Here are a couple of close ups:

Apple Time - 36"x36" -- Just in time for the 46th annual "Art & Apples Festival" in Rochester, MI this coming weekend!

This tree is a couple of miles from my house on my route to town. I love it's shape and the way it's robust crop of apples seems to float about the branches. This is also the first orchard that I have painted with a painting knife. I am really happy with how it turned out.

You can see this piece in person at the "Art & Apples Festival" this weekend in Rochester, MI. I will be at booth #559; stop on by!

October Orchard

4' x 4' Oil on Panel. I started this painting in October during our Indian summer. This piece is painted on one of my Papa-panels(specially crafted supports created to my spec's by my favorite carpenter: my dad). They are very cool to work on and the smooth surface gives a luster to my work that I really enjoy. Tomorrow, I will post a big poppy piece that I also painted on a 4' x 4' Papa-panel. Both are traveling with me on Wednesday to Chicago!

September Orchard

3' x 3' Oil Painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. I just finished this piece a few days ago. I started it in September which is the palette I saw in the landscape as I ran around my block. This piece will go with me to Chicago in December as I will be exhibiting at a juried show, the One of a Kind Show - Chicago.

On My Easel

This piece is near finished...stay tuned :)
